Season 3 of House of Cards will premiere on February 27, 2015. The announcement was made this morning. I still haven’t watched this series yet. It is on my queued list. I don’t know if I’ll get to watch it anytime soon. Hopefully, I can make time for it. I’ve heard that it is a good series, which was why I wanted to check it out.

The Killing – Season 4 (Final Season)

Standard

Season 4 (the final season) of The Killing will premiere on August 1, 2014 on Netflix. AMC cancelled the show after season 3, but Netflix picked it up for a fourth and final season. I thought the tweets that I’ve been seeing from Netflix were regarding having seasons 1-3. However, when I saw that they tweeted that the final season was going to premiere in one week, it made me wonder if the show continued. After some research, I found out about season 4.

I stopped watching the show at some point during season 3, so I didn’t keep up with news about the show. I happened to see the tweet about it because I follow Netflix on Twitter. Season 4 is supposed to conclude the show. I’m guessing that season 3 had a cliffhanger.

I suppose I can say congratulations on another season. I hope it will end well and have a resolution.

Community – Season 6!

Community has been renewed for a sixth season… by Yahoo! That’s awesome! Congratulations! It will premiere in the fall of this year, although an exact date hasn’t been announced. It will consist of 13 episodes. Since season 6 was picked up by Yahoo, it will be an online series.

Back in May 2014, I mentioned the cancellation of the show after season 5. I also mentioned that I wasn’t in a hurry to catch up on the show because it was cancelled. Now, I’ve changed my mind with the news of a new season coming! I think I’m still on season 1. I hope to catch up before season 6 premieres!

Orange Is the New Black has been renewed for a third season! Congratulations! News about the renewal came about a month ago (according to a post I’ve read). Either I missed it or it was announced quietly. I went through the tweets of the show’s official Twitter and didn’t see an official announcement. However, I just found out a few minutes ago about season 3 when I saw their tweet mentioning that the cast is hard at work on season 3. I still have to watch season 1 and I hope to get around to watching season 2 as well.

Orange Is the New Black – Season 2

Season 2 of Orange Is the New Black premieres on June 6, 2014. I attempted to watch season 1 recently, but I kept getting interrupted. Also, there were other shows that I was trying to catch up on. I figured since Orange Is the New Black is a Netflix original series, it might stay on there for a while. I hope to be able to finish season 1, so that I can also watch season 2.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy

A few days ago, I watched Mortal Kombat: Legacy and Mortal Kombat: Legacy II. I know I’m late in watching those, but I’m glad I finally made time to do so. Both seasons are better than I thought they would be. I like how each episode is about a different character. Well, at least it started that way. They seemed to focus more on the Scorpion and Sub-Zero storyline though. I don’t mind because I do like those characters.

The fighting was good. The costumes were ok. Most of them wore modern day clothing though. The special effects were decent. They weren’t too over the top and they weren’t terrible. There are things that could be better, but I’ll let them slide. After all, it’s a web series that I get to watch for free.

The storyline in season 1 for Scorpion and Sub-Zero was spoken in Japanese. As such, I was hoping the same thing would happen in season 2. It didn’t. They spoke English in season 2. Either it was easier to speak in English or it was less time consuming. Perhaps it was both.

I liked how they did the storyline for Kitana and Mileena in season 1. I liked the animation/Anime style. I think they changed the actresses for season 2. They looked different.

Raiden was played by a different actor in season 2. I don’t know if they explained it. I might have missed it if they did. In season 1, he was Caucasian and in season 2, he was Asian.

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa reprised his role as Shang Tsung in season 2, so that was cool. (He played Shang Tsung in the movie, Mortal Kombat).

This series pretty much tells the backstory of the characters. I don’t know how accurate they are. I’m pretty sure they’re fairly accurate. I haven’t played the games for many years and my memory of the characters’ stories isn’t too great nowadays.

I read some comments that said season 2 wasn’t as good as season 1. Well, that’s true, but at least it’s still more enjoyable than some Hollywood produced shows. I also read some complaints about the flaws of the series. Despite their budget, they were able to create something. I give them props for that. For a web series, Mortal Kombat: Legacy is good. I love Mortal Kombat (games, series, and movies), so I was happy with this series.

Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist

The other day, I watched Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist. It’s a web series on YouTube. It has 12 episodes. I found out about it when I saw a post from IGN on Google+. I’m assuming that the 12 episodes that are already posted are considered to be season 1. The episodes (so far) are about Ryu and Ken.

I think this series was done well. It’s better than I thought it would be. It’s a hundred, maybe even a thousand times better than a Hollywood produced show. I love Street Fighter (games, series, and movies), so I was very happy with this series.

It has a good storyline. The special effects weren’t crappy. The costumes were true to the game series and Japanese culture. The setting was true to Japanese culture. It makes me wonder if they actually filmed in Japan or somewhere that has that landscape or if they built the sets. A majority of the dialogue is in Japanese (with English subtitles), so that gives us a true sense of the setting, which is in Japan. There is also some English dialogue which gives a sense of American culture (especially for Ken, considering he is an American).

The acting is actually good, despite one of the characters having a heavy accent. I like the bond between Ryu and Ken. The actors portraying them have chemistry. I’m not talking about chemistry between two lovers, but rather the chemistry that makes their brotherhood believable. Does that make sense?

The fighting is real (or well choreographed). It doesn’t look cheesy or fake. I suppose they found real martial artists for this. The actors move the way martial artists move. Either that, or they had a good fight choreographer and good actors. I like their training sequences. They’re in sync with each other. I can’t even do a dance move in sync let alone a martial arts move! So, I give them props for that!

I wonder if they will make more episodes. If they do, I look forward to it!
