Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist

The other day, I watched Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist. It’s a web series on YouTube. It has 12 episodes. I found out about it when I saw a post from IGN on Google+. I’m assuming that the 12 episodes that are already posted are considered to be season 1. The episodes (so far) are about Ryu and Ken.

I think this series was done well. It’s better than I thought it would be. It’s a hundred, maybe even a thousand times better than a Hollywood produced show. I love Street Fighter (games, series, and movies), so I was very happy with this series.

It has a good storyline. The special effects weren’t crappy. The costumes were true to the game series and Japanese culture. The setting was true to Japanese culture. It makes me wonder if they actually filmed in Japan or somewhere that has that landscape or if they built the sets. A majority of the dialogue is in Japanese (with English subtitles), so that gives us a true sense of the setting, which is in Japan. There is also some English dialogue which gives a sense of American culture (especially for Ken, considering he is an American).

The acting is actually good, despite one of the characters having a heavy accent. I like the bond between Ryu and Ken. The actors portraying them have chemistry. I’m not talking about chemistry between two lovers, but rather the chemistry that makes their brotherhood believable. Does that make sense?

The fighting is real (or well choreographed). It doesn’t look cheesy or fake. I suppose they found real martial artists for this. The actors move the way martial artists move. Either that, or they had a good fight choreographer and good actors. I like their training sequences. They’re in sync with each other. I can’t even do a dance move in sync let alone a martial arts move! So, I give them props for that!

I wonder if they will make more episodes. If they do, I look forward to it!

The Neighbors – Cancelled

Standard

I just found out that The Neighbors was cancelled. I was thinking about the show and Googled it. I found an article from Entertainment Weekly that was posted on May 9, 2014 that mentioned three comedies that ABC cancelled. The Neighbors was one of the shows mentioned. Entertainment Weekly said that ABC refused to comment, but stars of the shows tweeted about the cancellations.

I started watching the show when season 2 premiered. I think I watched it because Last Man Standing had a season premiere and The Neighbors aired after it. I liked the show to some extent, but I’m not too torn up about its cancellation. It would’ve been nice to see what happens next though.

I wish the best of luck to everyone who was involved with the show!

Friends With Better Lives and Bad Teacher – Pulled From CBS Lineup

Friends With Better Lives and Bad Teacher were pulled from CBS’ TV lineup. I noticed it when I was searching through my DirecTV guide last night. After looking through the guide, I Googled these shows and came across a post about them being removed from the CBS lineup. The post mentioned that CBS did so “quietly.” It doesn’t matter how quietly they do it because someone will notice.

DirecTV’s guide gives you show listings for two weeks, which was how I found out that the shows weren’t listed. I have episode lists for each season for every show I watch. As I watch the episode, I check it off. I look ahead on the DirecTV guide to see what the next episode title is.

I already knew that Friends With Better Lives and Bad Teacher were cancelled. I wrote about it in another entry. However, I had been wondering if the rest of the episodes will be aired or if they will be pulled. Well, now I know that they’ve been pulled. I wonder if they will be aired on the CBS website.

I only watched these two shows just to get the points (on CBS’ website). Otherwise, I’m not that into these shows. They have their funny moments, but they’re not funny like CBS’ other comedies.

Core Transport Agents for Gas Aggregation

Standard

Back in November 2013, I signed up with one of PG&E’s Core Transport Agents (CTA) for core gas aggregation service. They claimed to sell gas cheaper than PG&E. It turned out to be more costly. When I was purchasing gas from PG&E, my monthly bill was between $3-$10. Since signing up with that CTA, which was Blue Spruce Energy, my bill has been $20 or more.

Even when my family and I refrain from using gas, it’s still that much. I’m locked in with a one year contract, so I have to wait until November of this year. I believe the terms stated that cancellation cannot be done while the service was in contract.

To make matters worse, I was suckered into yet another CTA called Spark Energy. Unfortunately, the promise of cheaper gas charges was alluring. Now, I’m locked into a one year contract with them as well. I’ve already missed the deadline for the cancellation, so I don’t know if I will be able to cancel it once the service starts. I will have to find my paperwork on that.

After the service contract with Spark Energy is over, I will revert back to PG&E. Although they supposedly charge a lot per meter usage, my bill was pretty low. My only hope for the time being is that my landlords do not switch out the electric stove/oven for a gas range one like they’ve been planning. My family cooks a lot, so that will not be in our best interest.

Now that it’s officially summer, we won’t really be using any gas. That doesn’t matter though because the charges will still be a lot.

Ground Floor – Season 2!

I just found out that Ground Floor was renewed for a second season. Congratulations! I’m late in finding this out. The news came about back in March 2014. Since I was reading information regarding Men At Work, I did the same for Ground Floor.

I went on the show’s page on TBS’ website and saw the fan feeds. They commented regarding season 2. I then saw a tweet from Skylar Astin, who is the star of the show, which helped solidify the confirmation.

I also went on the show’s Twitter to look through the tweets regarding the announcement.

I had hoped there would be a second season. Otherwise, that would’ve been such a cliffhanger! I look forward to seeing what happens next.

Men At Work – Cancelled

I just found out that Men At Work was cancelled. I was thinking about the show and went on the show page on TBS’ website. I looked at the Facebook fan feed on the page and saw comments about its cancellation. TBS cancelled it on May 11, 2014.

I started watching the show a few days before season 3 premiered. There was a marathon of seasons 1 and 2 before the premiere of season 3, which was how I got to watch the show. I liked the show to some extent, but I’m not too torn up about its cancellation.

I wish the best of luck to everyone who was involved with the show. Thank you for giving us three funny seasons.

The End of Warehouse 13

Standard

warehouse13

Warehouse 13 is over. The finale was last week (May 19, 2014). I meant to write this sooner. I’m still sad. I’m sad it didn’t make it to “lucky 7” (seven seasons). I feel like it could’ve gone on much longer. Maybe the ratings weren’t all that. Maybe it became too expensive to create.

What I really liked was that the show actually was a “Syfy Original Series.” Syfy labels their series as “Syfy Original Series” but in actuality, they are just broadcasts of shows from another country.

I started watching the show a few days before the mid-season return of season 4. I liked it immediately. This was another show that I started late on. Also, soon after, the show was ending. This keeps happening to shows I like!

I enjoyed Warehouse 13. The actors and actresses had chemistry, the kind that comes naturally. Although there were dangerous elements in the show, there was also slight comedy. The show gave us a conclusion, but in a way, it did leave us wondering if there could be more.

Thank you to all those involved in making this show an awesome one! Thank you for five awesome seasons! You are all “endless wonders.”
