Cellphones on vibrate while at home

Standard

I don’t get why people put their cellphones on vibrate when they’re at home. What if someone was trying to reach you? What if it was an important call? Home is pretty much the one place where you could have your cellphone on without disrupting anyone. School, work, movie theaters, etc. do not allow you to have your cellphone on. Some people put their phones on vibrate at such places. That’s understandable, but why do so at home? My brother used to do that. Actually, I think he still does. I’d be out of the house and I’d call him if I needed to ask him something or if I needed him to help me bring groceries in the house. He wouldn’t pick up because he “didn’t hear” the phone. Of course he wouldn’t hear it if it’s on vibrate, especially when he has music blasting. I don’t know why he puts it on vibrate. When he was still in high school, he’d forget to take it off vibrate when he got home. However, that habit stuck with him even when he was out of school.

Perhaps people don’t like their ringtones or someone else doesn’t like it. Maybe they forgot to turn it off vibrate. If they use their phones all the time, surely they notice it, right? People are on their cellphones all the time nowadays. It’s just irritating to try and reach someone whose only telecommunication device is a cellphone when they have it on vibrate. It could be a life or death call.

Simply Lemonade with Raspberry [Product Review]

Standard

I bought this yesterday to try it out. I usually drink Simply Orange, so I wanted to try this since it was from the same brand/company. It seems to have a good blend of lemonade and raspberry. It’s fairly good. It’s not tangy. It’s not too sweet. It has the freshly made lemonade taste and feel to it, if that makes sense. I’m not usually a fan of raspberry or lemonade, but I like this blend. For me, this would be a good beverage to drink on a hot day.

Are You That Somebody?

Standard

*This was composed on January 8, 2003.*

All my life I’ve been searching for
Some to love me
And I just want to ask you
Baby, are you that somebody?

Every time I see your face
I feel happy inside
I’ve never felt this way before
So I’ve got to ask
Baby, are you that somebody?

Even though we’re not together
I can feel your love
And it makes me want to live
It makes me feel like I want to breathe
So I’m asking you
Baby, are you that somebody?

If I…

If I said to you the words from my heart
Would you listen or turn away?
If I told you I loved you
What would you say?
If I said you were the only one for me
Would you open up your heart to me?
If I told you that I’ve waited for you all my life
Would you want me to be your wife?
If I said that I want to be with you
Would you want to be with me too?
If I told you how I felt today
Would you tell me you feel the same way?
If I promised to be by your side every day
Would you promise me you’ll stay?
I can’t imagine my life without you
Hopefully one day you’ll feel the same way too

Cambodian New Year 2011 – Day of Food

Standard

Generally, depending on the region, Cambodian New Year may be celebrated within date ranges of April 12th to 16th. It lasts for three consecutive days. In my area, I think it started today. Today, food concessions were set up at the temples. I went to two temples today. One was in my city and the other one was in a neighboring city. I don’t usually do anything for New Year’s, but this time, I figured that I should. I went to the temples with my mom and my cousins. As it turns out, I didn’t know anybody at either temple besides the people I went with. Well, there were three other people whom I somewhat knew. One was my sister’s friend, one was a former schoolmate, and the other was my cousin’s friend. I don’t know if my sister’s friend knew me. I don’t think I’ve ever been introduced to her, but one of her sisters is the same year as me. Also, another one of her sisters works at the same place I do. In essence, I knew her through association, not exactly through introduction or socially. The girl who was a former schoolmate probably wouldn’t recognize me anymore. We went to the same junior high school. We didn’t really talk much back then. As for my cousin’s friend, I only know her because she came to my house a few times.

Anyways, I haven’t been to a temple in a long time. I’m not the temple-going type of person. Today happened to be the day that food was being sold. I bought some things. My sister had to be at work, so she couldn’t be there. As such, she gave me a list of food she wanted. I bought whatever they had available. Those foods are best when they’re freshly made. The meat is especially good when it’s right from the grill. I don’t usually eat the festival food. I generally stick to what I know and like. According to others, the food is delicious. I hope I get to see the rest of the festivities for the other days. Happy Cambodian New Year!

You’re All I Think About

Standard

*This was composed on January 6, 2003.*

I can’t stop thinking about you
You’re always on my mind
Why can’t I forget you?
Your heart is always hard to find
I know you belong to another
But still I can’t forget
There was a chance for us to be together
But we weren’t and that’s what I regret
I know it’s only been a couple of years
But still I think of you
I even cried some tears
Because I couldn’t be with you
It’s true that all I think about is you
And I can’t get over that fact
Maybe one day I should tell you
And see how you react

Diamonds are not a girl’s best friend

Standard

I guess women tend to like receiving diamond jewelry. What if your relationship with the person who gave you the diamonds ended? Would you keep the diamonds? Surely you wouldn’t want to keep it if you’ve ended on bad terms. Getting rid of it isn’t as easy as receiving it. Nobody wants to buy back diamonds. So what makes them so valuable? In movies, thieves are always stealing diamonds and getting rich from selling them. In real life, you can try to sell them and you wouldn’t have much luck. Perhaps that depends on where you go. If you can’t get rid of your diamonds, how is it your best friend? Is there a trick to it? Who can you sell it to in order to make some kind of profit from it? Not everyone wants to buy a used piece of jewelry, so that makes it hard to find a buyer. Jewelry stores won’t buy it back either for whatever reason. I’m sure someone would be willing to buy a used piece of diamond jewelry. Finding that person is not an easy task.
